Today I introduce one cause of unstable network.
Common cause of network issue
Common causes of network issue are below.
- Network device fault
- Huge traffic
- Wrong settings in router or PC
- Internet provider issue
In office, "Network device fault" and "Huge traffic" are common.
Especially "Huge traffic" occurs easily by increasing employees.
Cause of office network issue
Compare to home, a lot of people are in office.
So there is larger network traffic there.
We may remember Windows Update.
There are a lot of PC in office.
If they tried to download update data, it cause huge traffic and network issue.
In Japan, monthly Windows update comes on Wednesday.
So if network issue happens on Wednesday, you can doubt that is caused by Windows update.

How to avoid issue
There are no way to control download Windows update.
But WSUS server can decrease duplicate download.
What is WSUS server ?
WSUS server is a server which download Windows update.
It downloads Windows update and deliver it to others. So other PC doesn't need to download it from internet.
Windows Server Update Services (WSUS), previously known as Software Update Services (SUS), is a computer program developed by Microsoft Corporation that enables administrators to manage the distribution of updates and hotfixes released for Microsoft products to computers in a corporate environment. WSUS downloads these updates from the Microsoft Update website and then distributes them to computers on a network. WSUS is an integral component of Windows Server.

How about active time settings ?
Windows has active time settings.
But it manages schedule of restart.
So it does not make sense in this case.
Finally
- If network is undtable on Wednesday, its reason would be Windows update.
- In order to decrease traffic of Windows update, you can use WSUS server.
